Another winner, a beautiful volume , love watching all the love and care the staff of Folio Society take in their wonderful craft

Looks pretty cool but I have a few issues: 1) A limited edition without any leather is somewhat of a letdown. The materials are basically a standard edition with a slightly bigger size book and a fancy box. I guess this depends on the final price but I hope it’s not over $500 all things considered. 2) The design looks awfully similar to Folio’s The Original of Totalitarianism , which comes with 2 books and is $220. 3) The Original extra patches look like a blatant copy of what Amaranthine Press just did with Catch 22. Same exact aesthetic. Folio’s limited editions keep pulling more and more away from leather bindings. It was full leather then quarter now none. I really hope this book isn’t super expensive or it’s going to be a rip off, because I do like it but the deciding factor on the purchase is definitely going to be the price. I hope they don’t try and gouge knowings it’s a popular book.

Would you ever consider doing a non-limited edition that also includes a collection of his other poetic masterpieces that are more on the philosophical side? Especially The Hollow Men, Ash Wednesday, and/or the Four Quartets

Make a list of a dozen or so illustrations you might expect to see such an edition of TBotNS. Triskele, the Citadel & Matachin Tower, Gyoll, Nessus and its wall, Dr. Talos, Baldanders, the play, the duel with the avern flowers, the stories from the brown book, two-headed Typhon, the castle at Lake Diuturna, the war with the Ascians, none of these are represented in this edition. The illustrations do not reflect the text, either aesthetically or in the particulars of the significant people, places, things, and events of the story. What a missed opportunity.

Vess' work on Sandman will forever be some of the best art I've ever seen in (comic) book form. The Tempest is one of my favourite issues ever. Also, his art in the third issue of The Books Of Magic "The Land of Summer's Twilight" is a masterpiece.

I bought this and must critique the very bad TIMELY Captain America 1 comic book replica facsimile? Why is it sized so small width and especially height wise?? An original cover measures 8 5/8" width x 10 1/2" height. The Folio replica facsimile measures: 7" width x 9 1/2". Why not near the original Golden Age size or close to that vs this odd size?? Would have been better to use newsprint paper vs this waxy paper stock. Not worth the monies IMHO. Don't care for the hardcover book as am mainly after the comic to be held and read.

Why is it three volumes for one novel?

I do have a copy of JS&MN, but it's been years since I read it and I don't remember a thing. I still might purchase a copy of this though; it looks gorgeous

This illustrator seems nice enough but JONATHAN STRANGE & MR. NORRELL is a book authored by an Englishwoman and mostly based in England. I'm not so sure that an ageing hippy in West Virginia, drawing pictures in between smoking Jimson Weed and licking the bellies of the local hallucinogenic toads is appropriate. Has Charles Vess ever even visited York? It's not possible to 'know' the place without actually spending time physically walking the streets. York Minster cannot be understood from pictures and films. It is so much more than any one dimensional images could ever impart - even if you are tripping balls.

Absolutely the wrong choice! Folio opted for a "Gaiman" name instead of artists (there are many) who have toiled over years. The lettering and design are trashy/flashy...
